DVT & Pulmonary Embolism

www.nucleusinc.com This 3D medical animation shows a blood clot forming in a lower leg vein, creating a deep vein thrombosis, or DVT. When the thrombus breaks free of the valve, it is called an embolus, and travels toward the heart and lungs. The animation ends by showing the embolus lodging in the lung tissue forming a life-threatening pulmonary embolism (PE). See more 3D medical animations from Nucleus Medical Art at http ANC00004

@jetstarsyd This is happening to people constantly and this leads me to ask a question doctors are not asking and that is, “What is causing the blood to bind in the first place?”

I had a PE shortly after a L / total hip replacemnent. I was put into an induced coma for 13 days along with a massive cardiac arrest and kidney failure.
I was fitted with a temp filter in my main artery to stop any more clots going from my leg to my heart and lungs.
This was all back in may 09 and to this day I an still on blood thinning meds and still have clots in my left leg and am still seing specialists.
This was workers comp and am still treated like crap from inurance company .

This looks like LDL Low-Density-Lipopopretein, because they transport the bad lipids and instead of taking it to liver they put it in arteries of the heart causing embolism and Myocardial infractions

@2009adwe In my understanding of clinical anatomy, this video show the formation of a plaque, it is made up of cholesterol and is very sticky. Red blood cells are trapped it the plaque and form a clot . this breaks off and travels in the circulation in the heart and lungs until it is trapped and causes a blockage and if it is trapped in leg cause DVT in the lungs causes plumonary ebolism. clinically it is very serious and can be fatal if prompt treatment is not available. hope this is clearer.

I love this video it make a complicated and long process easier to understand

2009adweFebruary 7th, 2010 at 10:17 pm

the white substance could be a fat molecule, blood clot or bony fragment after bone fracture.
